Hi my name is Roxanne and my humom Christie adopted me from Town Lake Animal Shelter in Austin, Texas about five months ago. Mommy went to all the shelters before picking me, she knew I was SPECIAL! She just didn't know that I was going to be a SPECIAL needs girl. I was free because I had already been at the shelter for over thirty days. I think no one wanted me because I LOOK like a Pit Bull but my Mommy insist that I am a Boxer/Bulldog Mix. That's ok, I can let her think that because alot of people don't like Pit Bulls. I love people and want them to love me back. I love my Mommy so much! I didn't have any of these symptoms when Mommy adopted me. They started about a week. Mommy doesn't know why, maybe because I was on antibiotics from my spay surgery and kennel cough. She has tried to help me by fixing me delicious species appropriate raw meat and bones (yum), fruits and vegetables, yogurt, and filtered water to drink. She tries to get me to relax in oatmeal and/or apple cider baths but I don't care for them very much even though it does make my itchies feel a little better. When my Mommy first got me I went to several different veterinarians who prescribed steroids and antibiotics. It made me feel terrific but only temporarely, my symptoms always returned worse that before. For the last six weeks my Dr. has been Will Falconer, you can read about him here: http://vitalanimal.com/about-dr-falconer/. He is a great Holistic Veterinarian but it's costing my Mommy a little more than she has budgeted for. No one knows for sure what is wrong with me but I have heard some very scary conversations about allergies, vaccinosis, and over-breading possibly being some causes. I mean jeez, no telling what all I went through before I found my furever home, did you notice my saggy teets and that horrible spay tattoo on my belly??? My Mom is working very hard to help me; feeding me special meals, keeping a daily journal of all my symptoms, consulting with different doctors, etc. She will never give up on me but we need some extra support. My Mom is only 24 years old and trying to establish a good financial foundation for herself. Thank goodness she is responsible and has good credit to charge all my doctor bills. But I am starting to worry about her and the debt she is incurring. Someone else probably would have just taken be back to the shelter, but not my Mom, she said she loves me and is keeping me! So that's why I am telling my story and started a Chip In page http://helproxanne.chipin.com/my-sick-rescued-dog-roxanne to try and help my Mom out. I am not asking for alot, just a few dollars if you can spare it. If you don't have any money I understand but maybe you could just repost and share my story. If I can help any of my fur friends by telling their story here, let me know.
